Sweetwater, the fourth-largest music instrument and pro audio retailer in the world, according to Music Trades magazine, has made two strategic appointments in its sales and purchasing departments. Music industry veteran and longtime Sweetwater employee David Klausner has been promoted from sales engineer to sales manager, and Ohio native Mike Brinker has been hired as senior product manager/Buyer to further strengthen Sweetwater's purchasing department.

Dave Klausner hails originally from New York City. Since receiving a BS in Biology from Cornell University, he has spent 25 years working in the music industry. His passion for recording led him to open a commercial facility, Magic Carpet Studio, in the early '90s. He later worked in some of the major studios in New York and Philadelphia, and has played with or worked on recordings with artists as diverse as John Popper, Sonny Landreth, Bernie Worrell, Shania Twain and Vernon Reid. For the last nine years, he has worked at Sweetwater Sound as a sales engineer, where he sold and helped configure systems for artists such as Harry Connick Jr., Adrian Belew, and John Tesh, and for organizations such as the U.S. Army, Showtime Networks and Lucent Technologies.

Mike Brinker is originally from Ohio and has a degree in Commercial Music from Capital University and from The Recording Workshop in Chillicothe, Ohio. For the last 12 years he was the Pro Audio manager for Woodwind & Brasswind, and was previously a manufacturer's representative for Starin Marketing and Sound Marketing, representing numerous lines, including Auralex, Allen & Heath, JVC, Sony, and many others.

Sweetwater founder and president Chuck Surack says, "Sweetwater has been aggressively adding employees, particularly in the sales department. We promoted David to provide greater mentoring and oversight for new sales engineers. I'm also delighted to bring a talented professional like Mike Brinker to Fort Wayne."
