Roland Systems Group (Booth 755) is introducing an optional fiber optic data converter for the RSS Digital Snakes and V-Mixing System. The RSS S-OPT allows
users of the M-400 V-Mixer, and S-1608 and S-4000 Digital Snake systems to easily extend transmission distances up to two kilometers. Housed in a robust half-rack chassis, the SOPT converts RSS REAC data from Cat5e Ethernet to dual-core multimode optical fiber.
The REAC protocol allows the transmission of up to 40 channels of 24-bit 96KHz digital audio. The S-OPT is extremely low latency and an ideal solution for digital audio transmission in large stadiums/venues, multi-building facilities, outdoor arenas or any application needing distances longer than 100 meters.
Each S-OPT unit features POWER LINK, which allows one S-OPT to deliver electrical power to an adjoining S-OPT unit in case of power failure of the adjoining unit. POWER LINK works hand-in-hand with the redundant S-4000 REAC system to deliver glitch-free, seamless failover of all audio channels in the event of power supply or cable failure.
Like the robust EtherCon jacks employed on the M-400 V-Mixer and Digital Snakes, the S-OPT uses dust-free Dual-LC OpticalCon jacks from Neutrik. These jacks and plugs offer metal housings and smooth mechanical covers for all sensitive optical contacts.
These advanced optical connections provide the reliability and strength needed in portable outdoor sound reinforcement scenarios and fixed installations with limited maintenance.
The front panel of the S-OPT features LED's to alert the operator of REAC communication and power status.
The S-OPT will be available end of 2007.
